Ultimate Descents
Venturing into the unknown is the spirit of exploration and it is not as difficult as first imagined. Established in the year 1991, Ultimate Descents Nepal (UDN) is the name of Nepal’s premier rafting outfitter. With years of experience in hospitality as well as in Nepal’s whitewater, UDN is very proud to have claimed the “Nepal Tourism Award” for five consecutive years, making it one of the best rafting operators in Nepal.
UDN has run many of the first descents on the Himalayan rivers and offers river journeys on nearly all of the rivers, including: Karnali, Marshyangdi, Sun Koshi, Bhote Koshi, Tamur, Trishuli, Kali Gandaki and Seti. The safety of our clients has and always will be the first priority at UDN. Keeping that in mind, we employ the most experienced guides and use state-of-the-art equipment. Our guides are trained in SRT (Swift Water Rescue Technique), CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and Wilderness First Aid.
Nepal at a glance
Better known for its Himalayan massifs, Nepal boasts eight of the world’s 14 highest peaks that exceed 8,000m in altitude. It contains Mt. Everest (8,848m), the world’s highest peak, as well as seven others that rise over 8,000m above sea level. Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Buddha and is, therefore, an important destination for Buddhist pilgrims. It was at Lumbini, as inscribed on the pillar erected by the Indian king Ashoka, that the Buddha was born. Lumbini also has a number of artistic temples built through international support.
